Each ring undergoes a series of processes whereby the design is drawn (in reverse), the metal is then carved away (incised) using tools specially designed for each specific task, and then finally polished by hand producing a totally unique seal. Considerations for selecting between 9k, 14k and 18k: To be certain, pure gold is 24k, but this is a very soft metal and is nicked easily. The more gold in the alloy the richer the gold luster of the ring will look in color. For example, our 18k gold rings have a very deep rich gold color to it. 14k is not as gold in color and, going down to 9k, there is noticeably less gold in color than the 18k. About the Ringmakers: With over 50 years combined experience of seal and deep hand engraving on signet rings and other products to a worldwide clientele, including European, Middle Eastern and Asian Royalty, our engravers have a treasured and widely acclaimed reputation for the quality of their craftsmanship and service. All of the craftsmen have been traditionally trained using hand engraving tools and techniques virtually unchanged for many centuries. The youngest craftsmen having their skills handed down to them by senior craftsmen. Usually all craftsmen are fully trained in both gold and gemstone engraving. The ringmakers are also qualified and fully experienced in die sinking, steel die engraving, copper plate engraving, relief engraving and hand (line) engraving. Our artists are completely versed in the language of heraldry and are able to design coats of arms from the traditional written description known as blazon. |
