| In our opinion, there is no other stone on the planet that is more striking than the Sardonyx (short of diamonds). The picture is a bit deceptive in that it does not communicate the high blue color which is polished to a shine. The engraved parts have more of a satin look since it is, in fact, engraved with a diamond. The actual blue hue of the stone will vary from stone to stone since it is a natural stone. The Sardonyx is a hard stone but it has to be looked after a little as it can be prone to chipping if struck quite hard. It is an excellent natural gemstone with a striking appearance. For anyone looking for a visually striking signet ring, certainly the Sardonyx is the ring. It stands in its own category. Considerations for selecting between 9k, 14k and 18k: To be certain, pure gold is 24k, but this is a very soft metal and is nicked easily. The more gold in the alloy the golder the ring will look in color. For example, our 18k gold rings have a very deep rich gold color to it. 14k is not as gold in color and, going down to 9k, there is noticeably less gold in color than the 18k.
