CAST RINGS - Cast rings are made by simply pouring molten gold into a mould. However cast gold like all cast metal is porous and this will lead to the ring wearing significantly quicker in comparison to a die-stamped ring.
DIE-STAMPED RINGS - The skilled and complex process of producing a die-stamped ring begins with a sheet of highly compressed gold, from which the flat profile of the signet ring is stamped. This stamping process is done under great weight, which in turn compresses the gold even further, making the gold incredibly dense, resulting in a much harder, stronger ring.
A skilled goldsmith then crafts the flat profile into a blank signet ring, which is polished, and finally engraved.
Not only is the signet ring considerably harder wearing, but also as the metal is so dense it leads to a more precise cut, and is therefore much better for engraving, giving your signet ring a sharper, more defined image.
